Myths tell us about ourselves. They tell us who we are, where we came from and where we’re going. They are stories that speak to us across time, echoing with meaning that we recognise and relate to.

Mythmaking: A Feminist Guide, Thursday 27th February, 12.30pm to 2pm, £2/Free, 18+, Women only

Matriarchs and mystics, Scylla and Sibyl, we’ll celebrate the bold women writers who’ve reinvented and revitalised these ancient myths, asking new questions and challenging archetypes.

Rebecca Jones is a PhD researcher at the University of Strathclyde. Her thesis, Consuming Men: Masculinity, Meat and Myth in Literary Fictions from Mary Shelley to Ursula K. Le Guin, uses ecofeminist and vegan animal studies theory to analyse myth, masculinity and meat-eating in literary fiction from the publication of Frankenstein in 1818 to the present day.

Be nourished by women’s words over lunchtime as we rediscover the joy of being read to. Our friendly and welcoming Story Cafés take place on Thursday afternoons and you can see all our dates this Spring here.
