Freedom of the City for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi

We have just returned from City Chambers where we attended the long-awaited ceremony to award the Freedom of the City to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the brave and great Burmese pro-democracy campaigner and Nobel Peace Prize winner under house arrest by the Burmese military regime.

More money in the bag!

The Robertson Trust has awarded us £75,000 towards building costs to construct our education / lifelong learning floor in our new Mitchell Library space.

Annual General Meeting 2008

Glasgow Women’s Library’s AGM was held on Wednesday 26th November at our Parnie Street home. Friends, supporters, learners, staff, volunteers and Board members alike enjoyed a relaxed and positive meeting and were in celebratory mood as we reflected on the past year at GWL.

Receptionist

Building for the Future

If I had a pound for every time someone asks me the question, ‘When are you moving to the Mitchell Library?’ we would have already raised the one million pounds needed for the refurbishment work. Of course it is a fair, as well as frequently asked, question; after all it has been over 3 years since we first announced that the Mitchell Library will be our wonderful future home.
