Putting Women Cycle Writers on the Shelf

To mark Book Week Scotland, CTC’s Cycle Development Officer in Scotland, Suzanne Forup, has launched an appeal for books by female cyclists which can be added to our shelves.

In her blog on the CTC website Suzanne talks about how Anne Mustoe’s book ‘Two Wheels in the Dust: From Kathmandu to Kandy’ both inspired her cycling and was a practical guide when discovering southern India herself.  She’s keen to get more women cycle writers on GWL’s shelves and for their cycling tales to inspire more women to jump on their bikes in search of adventure.

There are two ways you can help to get women cycle writers on the shelf:

1. You can make a contribution towards the dedication of a shelf to women cycle writers, celebrating and remembering these amazing women in our new home. To donate what you can towards this shelf click here. All funds from the Women On The Shelf initiative will go towards the refurbishment of our permanent premises in Bridgeton.

2. Or, if you have any books you would like to donate or suggestions of books we could add to our collection please get in touch. Our contact details can be found here.

Happy Book Week Scotland!

Having read ‘12,000 miles around the world’ I will now need to reserve this ‘new’ one! Mustoe is a great writer. her descriptions inspire you to go and see the places she traveled yourself!
