Ingrid Pollard, commissioned by GWL, has been exploring the Lesbian Archive, utilising a range of materials connected to lesbian history and culture, particularly in London towards the end of the 20th century. This includes archives relating to the Camden Lesbian Centre, The Black Lesbian Group, Lesbian Line, and the Lesbian Archive and Information Centre. Ingrid has been creating work that will appear in Glasgow International 2020. Find out more here.

The Rebel Dykes film is a highly anticipated full length documentary directed by Harri Shanahan and Sian Williams.  It is about the explosion that happened when punk met feminism, told through the lives of a gang of lesbians in the riotous London of the 1980s. The film is in post production now, and is aiming for release in 2021. Siobhan Fahey, a local filmmaker, is bringing a work in progress 10-15 minute extract to show as an example of how artists and filmmakers can respond to our precious lesbian archives. Come and find out what all the fuss is all about! With music from The Poison Girls and The Renees.

Together, Ingrid and Siobhan have selected The Archivettes (2019) to screen at GWL, centred on the Lesbian Herstory Archives in Brooklyn it explores how a group of women “came together to combat lesbian invisibility and create ‘a place that says yes.’” This will be shown alongside the short of Rebel Dykes.
