Mapping Memorials to Women: Oban

Edinburgh Mapping workshop 7th August 028Who are the women who helped to build Scotland? How are they remembered? What about women in Oban and elsewhere in Argyll? Join Glasgow Women’s Library and WEA women@work for these informal hands on sessions looking at women’s heritage in Argyll and Bute. You can come along to one or both sessions and lunch will be provided. All sessions are free of charge.

Session 1: Introductory session on the women of Scotland website
This website, developed in partnership by Women’s History Scotland and Glasgow Women’s Library, has now logged the stories of over 300 memorials to women. Find out about some of the women already featured on the website and get started on logging any memorials you know of in your own local area.

Session 2: Celebrating women’s heritage in Argyll
Women’s History quiz
Introduction to the different ways women’s heritage has been celebrated. Make your own map of local women who should be memorialised. Ideas generation for women’s heritage project in Argyll.
