Visitor in the Archive

This week I was very pleased to host a visit from Antoinette Seymour, the Archivist at the College of the Bahamas. Antoinette has been on

a whistle stop tour of archives across Scotland and Glasgow Women’s Library was the last stop on her travels. Antoinette previously volunteered at the Library, cataloguing the records of ENACT as part of her archives management course. It was great to welcome her back to the Library and show her around. The last time Antoinette worked with us, the Library was located in Parnie Street up many flights of stairs and was a bit chilly!

I showed her around the temporary repository space and briefly explained our locations guide. Antoinette enjoyed a brief look at material from the Suffragette Collection, including the anti-Suffragette clock and a sample of the anti and pro Suffragette postcards.

Finally, Antoinette kindly donated a badge to our collection. Badges of Honour was launched on 1st May and the donations have been coming in, thick and fast. So far, Antoinette’s badge is the winner of the “Furthest Distance Travelled” and has a pride of place within our collection.

Thank you for visiting the Library, Antoinette. It’s always lovely when old friends come back to see us!
