Seeing Things visit Domestic Bliss at GOMA
28th May, 2019 at 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Seeing Things is a group that meet up to see art, performances and cultural events put on by women across Glasgow and beyond. We think it’s more fun to go to see things together, and we usually have a cup of tea or coffee afterwards. Our trips are always free. It would be great if you could come along!
What: Visiting GOMA for Domestic Bliss exhibition. With a tour from its curator, Katie Bruce.
When: Tuesday 28th May, 11am-1pm
Where: Gallery of Modern Art, Royal Exchange Square
Who With: Mattie & Doreen
Why you should join us: We’re very excited to see Domestic Bliss, an exhibition of work by over 27 artists, chosen from Glasgow Museums’ collection to reflect on GoMA’s building history as a former house, Royal Exchange and civic space.
We’re also going to have the insight of GOMA curator, Katie Bruce, so it’ll be an opportunity to find out more about the aims of the exhibition and the process of it being put together!
The exhibition examines domestic labour and feminism, public and private space, intimate relationships and historical narratives.
We will be in the foyer, from 10.45 and the exhibition tour will start at 11. There will be time to explore the exhibition after the tour and to take it in at your own pace. We will regroup for a tea and a chat in the GOMA cafe!
The Gallery of Modern Art is situated in Royal Exchange Square in the heart of Glasgow’s city centre. The entrance to the Gallery is from Queen Street, which leads into Royal Exchange Square. It is around 5 minutes’ walk from Queen Street and Argyle Street train stations and a 10-minute walk from Glasgow Central Station.
There is wheelchair access to all public areas using the lifts and there are free wheelchairs available to hire at reception. If you think you might require one do let us know. The accessible toilet is located on the lower ground floor. All exhibition labels are in large print.
This trip is for women only* and is free to attend. Travel expenses up to £5 can be covered.
