Women’s Visions of Scotland

Image courtesy of Howard Lake on Flickr2014 is an exciting year for Scotland for lots of reasons, in particular the Independence Referendum in September. In the lead up to this momentous event we have several different ways to help you vision the future of Scotland and stake your claim on her future.

With the referendum debate hotting up and campaigning for both sides officially underway this week we want to give you the opportunity to think about what independence means to you.

Our Sound-Off for Women sessions start on Wednesday 18th June with a session looking at how the vote was won and will then continue through June and July offering a place to voice your opinions and examine the manifestos.

We have three Dream Time sessions happening at the Library in June, July and August too. Three opportunities to join Grace Franklin in a supportive and reflective workshop where you can dream about your ideal society and the type of community you really want to live in. Each session is the same, so come on Thursday 26th June at 10.30am, Thursday 17th July at 5.30pm or Thursday 7th August at 10.30am.

Dearest Scotland LogoThen on Tuesday 19th August we are extremely happy to welcome the Dearest Scotland team to the Library who will be holding two writing workshops giving you the space to write a letter to the future of Scotland. Where are we going? What should our future look like? What do we who live in Scotland actually think? Just some of the questions Dearest Scotland want to ask and this event will give you the opportunity to answer.

All of these sessions are strictly apolitical and there is no coercion to tailor your thoughts to suit any vote that you make on 18th September, but coming along to one of these events may give you a new thinking on that decision.
