With the continuing cold weather affecting all Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Life services, the Library is assessing the situation daily.
We will be open 10am to 4pm on Thursday 9 December. Service should be back to normal on Friday 10 December – assuming that the weather conditions do not worsen again.
Event cancellations
As announced on Tuesday, we sadly had to cancel the Making Space symposium that was due to take place on Wednesday afternoon. We’ll be re-scheduling the symposium in the new year, and will keep everyone involved up-to-date with the changes.
We have also had to cancel A Way With Words sessions due to take place on Thursday 9 and Friday 10 December, everyone booked on should have been contacted by now and we will let you know about new dates for these.
More information
You can find out more about the effect the cold weather is having on services in Glasgow on the City Council website and the Glasgow Life website.
General information about how the cold weather is affecting Glasgow and the rest of the country is available on the BBC website, while weather info is available (if to be taken with a pinch of salt) from both the BBC and the Met Office.
We urge you to stay safe and keep warm – keep an eye on our website for info about opening hours over the next few days – the weather is due to ease, but nothing’s guaranteed! You can still contact us online – and there’s still time to buy a GWL Winter Raffle ticket or sponsor a shelf in the Women’s Library as a Christmas gift for an important woman in your life (it’ll save you heading out into the cold to shop!)

Could you please let me know if tomorrow’s (Thursday)storytelling / writing workshop is on.I am fairly snowed in and it will need a huge effort to even get to a bus stop or station.
Hope to see you tomorrow if at all possible.
Ingrid
Hi Ingrid, we were planning for the training to go ahead but unfortunately the facilitators are unable to get their car out so we are going to have to cancel. Such a shame but hopefully things will be back to normal soon. We will call you to make sure you know not to come in. Laura
