A Year in Six Books

This December I’m celebrating an anniversary – I’ve now been happily working in GWL for a full year, having joined the team as a development worker last December. Looking back on a packed year of ground breaking projects and personal learning it’s hard, if not impossible, to sum it up in a blog post. One of the great things about working in the women’s library (as well as the large variety of tea on offer) is being surrounded by such inspirational book shelves. It’s been difficult but I’ve chosen six books, that have punctuated this year in the library and would thoroughly recommend to others.

YA Recommendations

These books are a must-read for Young Adult fiction lovers. Whether you like being transported to the streets of New York battling mythical creatures, or travelling to far away lands where magic is everywhere, or even just going to high school, befriending an outsider, there is something here for everyone.

Story Café Recap: Fantastic Kenyan Activism and Art

To celebrate this week’s Book Bunk visit to GWL, our Story Café Special focused on Kenyan writers and activists. Read a summary of the Kenyan fiction, films and organisations we discussed.

New Books For You To Borrow

There are several books in GLW, new Editing , different culture, real feats of adventures, biography books and emotional words as poetry. All these types are available now on our shelves. It is a new reading and borrowing opportunity in the Glasgow Women’s Library.
