Through a public fundraising appeal and with support from the National Acquisitions Fund, GWL was able to succesfully bid on a hunger strike medal awarded to suffragette Maud Joachim in 1909 by the Women’s Social and Political Union.

We are delighted to announce Rabiya Choudhry’s illuminated artwork ‘Give light and people will find the way (Ella Baker)’, commissioned by The Common Guild for ‘anywhere in the universe’ has been gifted to Glasgow Women’s Library by the artist and will remain in place here at the library as a permanent installation.

Get to know the library, archive, museum and our year round programme of events dedicated to women’s lives, histories and achievements. We’ll be open 10am – 4.30 pm on Friday the 15th and 12noon – 4pm on Saturday the 16th of September. No need to book, just pop in!
