Scotland’s first ever festival for Scottish women’s writing returns for its third edition. Expect creative workshops, in-depth discussions, open mic sessions and plenty of performances from the best literary talent this country has to offer. There are three events taking place as part of Open the Door festival at Glasgow Women’s Library, please book separately for events you’d like to attend.
There’s a very special treat in store for the final event of Open the Door, as well as a sneaky peak into what Scottish writers are busy conjuring up behind the scenes. Kicking off with an ‘in conversation’ event with the magnanimous author and special guest Ali Smith, to learn more about the women who ‘opened the door’ for her. We’ll also hear from the multi-talented Chitra Ramaswamy and Lucy Ellmann about their exciting new projects and works-in-progress. And for those who are brave enough to take to the stage themselves, there will be some open mic slots available to get up and share your talent.
Open Mic: There will be limited slots of 2 minutes per person, first come first served, and you’ll be able to sign up on the night when the doors open at 6.45pm. The open mic session will take place towards the end of the event.

We have accessible toilets and all the bathrooms are individual closed stalls and are gender neutral. Our larger Events Space is fitted with an induction loop.
