Women of Bridgeton, Lothian, Dundee, Brora and Dumfries and Galloway!
We are coming to you!
After several months in the planning with partners and women’s groups we have secured dates for our national Mixing The Colours workshops and events across Scotland. We want to speak with you and collect your thoughts and experiences and have a number of open workshops that we’d love you to get involved.
- Next week we will very gladly welcome young women from Muirhouse Community Development Group. Funded by Youth Scotland’s Stand Up To Sectarianism project, we will explore their views on violence against women and the interplay of gender and sectarianism on girls and women between 16 and 25.
- On Thursday evening our Seeing Things group will attend a performance of Cora Bissett’s Glasgow Girls a musical example of female protagonists challenging social injustice in the name of friendship.
- On Friday we’ll meet with women from Bridgeton Learning Community Campus for the first of our visits and discussion sessions around artworks by women exploring aspects of sectarianism across greater Glasgow.
- Monday 24th February we’ll meet with young women at LGBT Youth Scotland to explore their experiences of sectarianism as part of LGBT History Month.
- Saturday 1st & 15th March we’ll be at home in Bridgeton with writer, Magi Gibson for creative writing workshops – Book here.
- Friday 21st March we host a film viewing and creative dialogue at Dundee International Women’s Centre – Book here.
- Thursday 28th and Friday 29th March we’ll be at delivering creative writing sessions at Brora Community Learning Centre – Book directly on: 01408 622707 or email: trish.matthews@highlifehighlands.com
Into the spring we hope to strengthen our links with women in faith-based communities in Dumfries and Galloway to explore gender issues within their churches and participation in dialogue on sectarianism.
A huge thanks to date to the Mixing The Colours partners who have met us with openness, excitement and a true willingness to engage women from communities all over Scotland.
Now all we need is you…
