Sally Hackett’s SLOGAN MUGS celebrate the reality of sexuality, such as the beauty of pubic hair and the importance of orgasms. Inspired by the humour and protest present in comic books, slogan badges and handmade zines within the Glasgow Women’s Library archive, alongside some curious mugs from sexual health clinics, these designs address the responsibilities, pressures, expectations and assumptions involved in sexuality.
Each porcelain mug is slip cast by ceramicist Anna Lewandowska-Mirska at Glasgow Ceramics Studio and painted by Sally Hackett with different strokes, marks and feelings.

Sally Hackett works between London and Glasgow, and graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in 2012. She has recently undertaken residencies at Hospitalfield (2015) and CCA Creative Lab, Glasgow (2016) and has collaborated with a wide range of organisations such as GOMA, Project Ability, Glasgow Sculpture Studios and Glasgow Museum Services.
