Celebrating Aphra Behn – theatre script launch

Aphra Behn was the first British woman to make her living from her pen. She wrote the first ‘novel’ – Orinooko; which had an anti-slavery theme. When she died, society conspired to bury more than her body. Nancy Jo Cullen, Alexandria Patience and Rose Scollard wrote Aphra, the playscript, to honour this pioneer of women’s writing. Join us for the launch of this script.

Forward! Remembering Women Peace Crusaders: Exhibition

This exhibition draws on research undertaken into some of the key figures of the Women’s Peace Crusade highlighting a sample of some of their incredible achievements. From Glasgow based activists such as Helen Crawfurd, to national and international figures such as Rosa Manus the research, curated by Fiona Dean and developed in collaboration with staff and volunteers at GWL, has tried to uncover lost connections between the lives and activities of individuals associated with the WPC.
