There’s nothing more powerful than a compelling tale and no one knows this more than Charley Gavigan, from Brave Your Day. This magazine and podcast shines a light on everyday stories of bravery, from Scotland and beyond. Charley will explore the power of stories to unite us in these uncertain times, and share insights from her own personal journey.

Charley is a hope-a-holic who is learning every day to ditch her terrifying fears, anxieties and self-defeating beliefs in order to practice living and leading her bravest life. She is a recovering people pleaser who moved cities solo in her twenties. She set up an award-winning design women’s board game company in her thirties, when she was tracked by the Financial Times as a woman entrepreneur and crowned ‘Queen of guerilla marketing’. In her late thirties she confronted death and dying by supporting her then partner to have his best death. In her forties she ran her first 10k, learnt to ride a bike, married her soulmate and climbed 11,000 feet up the Matterhorn. Now that she’s survived well into her fifties, she celebrates her low, dark life points alongside her daily bravery fieldwork with like-minded warriors.

People draw great personal strength and human comfort from observing and learning from ways other people think, feel, experience and manage their life curve balls. Modern bravery and courage are needed more than ever in these uncertain times. If we were all to pick up our bravery torch and light each other’s, imagine how much more light there would be to witness, inspire and heal each other to live a braver day?

Be nourished by women’s words over lunchtime as we rediscover the joy of being read to. See all our upcoming Story Cafés here.
