Some thoughts on the importance of telling stories as a gateway to the past, inspired by the recent BBC Reith Lectures and GWL’s ‘Voices from the Belvidere’.
Sarah volunteered with us for a few months on the Spring and Summer 2015 before moving to London to study. She helped to develop our collection of fiction for young women and to document the stories of women from Clydebank and Dumbarton.
This event will bring together some of the groups and movements presented in the For Peace! exhibition. The presentations and discussion will explore how we can learn from past and ongoing campaigns, in order to enrich our struggles today.
The Participatory Clinic is a performance and a diagnosis of a culture. Inspired by the political ephemera of LGBTQ+ and women’s health activism from the 1980s recorded in GWL’s archives, the artist will host a cast of artists, performers and writers, in a contemporary reimagining of that material.
