Exhibition: Material Matters – Sharing Stories of Sewing

Glasgow Women's Library 23 Landressy Street, Glasgow, United Kingdom

Material Matters involved women of different ages and cultures in the creation of sewn wall hangings inspired by each person’s emotional attachment to a textile that has a story to tell: a grandmother’s quilt, a child’s dungarees, a Palestinian embroidery, a wedding dress. This exhibition shares the works created during the project by women at workshops across Scotland.

Trailblazers: The Journey of the Boundary Riders

Glasgow Women's Library 23 Landressy Street, Glasgow, United Kingdom

Celebrate International Women’s Day at GWL with stories, images and songs from Rachel Dawick who researched the stories of trailblazing women who left the UK and all they knew behind to start a new life on the other side of the world in New Zealand in 1800s. These stories turned into songs, a book and a final show; ‘The Boundary Riders’.
