Women of the Necropolis Heritage Walk

As spring returns, so do our ever-popular women’s heritage walks.  Led by our volunteer tour guides, they show Glasgow’s neighbourhoods in a new light, making visible the hidden and overlooked contributions women have made to the city.

Women of the Necropolis Heritage Walk, Saturday 8th May, 2pm to 4pm, £10/£6

Our guides can’t wait to introduce some of the notorious and forgotten women buried in this atmospheric Victorian cemetery. This is a hilly walk but the views across Glasgow and insights on women’s history are spectacular!

Booking

This walk is now fully booked.

Please note that we are reducing the number of bookings for this event to ensure that social distancing is possible while not being too far away from each other! We will communicate any further health and safety information (along with the meeting point) closer to the event. Should the event be cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions, tickets will be refunded in full.

This event is open to all. There are two ticket options for this event: a £10 ticket and a £6 ticket. Our walks raise funds for the Library. Please choose the ticket which you feel most able to pay. We offer the £6 ticket if you are a Friend of GWL. All places must be paid for in advance as tour guides are not able to handle money on the day of the walk. Select the number of tickets you want to book below. If you want to redeem a walk voucher, you can do this online or by contacting Emily on emily.ilett@womenslibrary.org.uk.

The week before the walk we will email all those who’ve booked with information including the meeting point for the walk. Please check your spam or junk email folders if you have not received this in your inbox. We ask that you do not bring dogs other than guide dogs along on the walks. Should you need to cancel a booking for any reason please see our Women’s Heritage Walks Cancellation Policy.

Accessibility

This walk takes place on pavements and grassy paths in the Necropolis. This is a hilly area and some sections are steep. If you’d like to speak to someone about the walk in advance and let us know your access needs, please contact us – we are happy to answer any questions.
