Story Café Special: Eco-poetry

Thursday, 9th November, 2023 , 1:00pm to 2:30pm

Free
Selection of eco-poetry book covers

How do women poets, past and present, connect with nature and how can women today take on the challenges of the climate crisis? We’ll be sharing words of hope, fear, activism and celebration, including readings from three Ginkgo Eco-poetry prize shortlisted women poets. We’ll also be sharing a range of inspirational work from Mary Oliver to poets of colour writing now.

This a hybrid event so you can join us in person at Glasgow Women’s Library or on zoom.

Tamsin Hopkins is a London based poet. Her eco poetry has appeared in Magma. The Anthropocene Issue, The London Magazine and in The Gingko Prize anthology 2021. She has published a short fiction book SHORE TO SHORE, River Stories about the mythology of rivers. Her poetry pamphlet Inside the Smile is available from Cinnamon Press.

Sari C. Cunningham is an ecologist, poet and nature writer, living near Oslo, Norway. She is interested in conservation biology, and how narrative shapes our relationship with the natural world.

Morag Smith works in outreach and adult education. Her poetry has been published in a wide range of magazines and anthologies. Her pamphlet “Background Noises” was published in November 2022 and is available from Red Squirrel Press.
