The Sex in the Women’s Library season culminates this evening with the launch of our new sexology themed publication Sex Between the Covers with some of the fresh writing talent reading their riveting work, screenings of the short films and podcast developed from the illuminating discussion, drama and comedy sessions that have been taking place at GWL this year.
Sex in the Women's Library – Reading, Writing and Discussions About Sex (Trailer) from Glasgow Women's Library on Vimeo.
We are very pleased to announce that two of the creative writing contributors to the publication will be reading at the launch; Cameo Marlott, Saskatchewan-born poet and emerging creative talent and Anita Govan, Makar of Stirling 2012-2015, poet, writer and educator. Free, limited edition copies of the publication and fizz will be served with ‘sexology themed’ cupcakes (back by popular demand) for toasting the climax of this remarkable season developed in partnership with the Wellcome Collection. This is an event you won’t want to miss a minute of.
This event is suitable for audiences aged 16+ and is free to attend, please see booking information below. (You will be taken through the shopping cart but no charge will be made) or you can call us on 0141 550 2267.
Glasgow Women’s Library is full of fascinating, thrilling and ground-breaking objects, images, books and manifestos that map the world of sex, sexual identity and sexuality, from pioneering gender-bending novels like Virginia Woolf’s Orlando and Spare Rib’s take on women’s rights to sexual power and pleasure to the wealth of ephemera charting the campaigns to liberate women’s sexuality.
As part of The Wellcome Collection’s Sexology Season this summer we offered a feast of fact and fiction all about sex to explore and enjoy.
