In this album, she sings in her mother tongue (Azarbaijani Turkish) for the first time, reviving the songs she remembers from her parents and grandparents singing them.
Azarbaijani is the second largest language spoken in Iran by 15 million Azari people, residing in the northwestern part of the country, the language is not official, but widely spoken. Farzane’s first language is Farsi as she was born in Tehran, the Capital city of Iran. She was never into Azarbaijani folk music until she moved to Scotland in 2017 and performed different Iranian folk songs alongside her own written music. She noticed she had never paid attention to the music from her motherland. She gradually added songs to her setlists and decided to create an album to give those songs a new life.

This event will have three parts:

– Film screening “Memories of Conversation Cafe women’s group”
– Music Performance by Farzane Zamen and her band
– Open mic (for people who want to share their musical memories)
– Panel discussion: Farzane Zamen and Kim Simpson (Head of Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion from Creative Scotland) around folk songs and family relationships, how places affect creativity and live languages in Scotland

The Album will be available for purchase at the event.
