Readers of Colour
27th October, 2021, 6:00pm to 7:30pm
Readers of Colour is a thriving community of readers of colour who come together to read writing by women and non-binary writers of colour
Readers of Colour, Wednesday 27th October, Wednesday 24th November, Wednesday 15th December, 6pm to 7.30 pm, Online, Women* of Colour Only, 16+
We share laughter, ideas and discussions, and each month focus on a set reading, ‘watching’ or ‘listening’. We sometimes watch short films or listen to podcasts or music, and occasionally have guest speakers. To keep commitment and cost down, we tend to read/ watch/ listen to a small focused piece or selection of pieces each month – though occasionally we also read book club books from the library. You can read more about us and what we’ve discussed in the past at the Readers of Colour page. In our Autumn 2021 Programme, sessions will include:
- Watching online events featuring women of colour authors from Aye Write: Glasgow’s Festival of Books
- Reading Sareeta Domingo’s steamy romance, IF I DON’T HAVE YOU, part of Jacaranda Books’ Twenty Black British authors published in 2020
Some events may be longer following a 17.45 – 19.45 format to allow time to watch online events together, however group members will be emailed in advance to make them aware of this.
If you’re interested in joining the group but you’re not sure what to expect – just come along to a session and listen in, there’s no need to talk or take part in the discussion unless you’d like to!
Read more about what we are up to on our blog page here, including book recommendations by group members.
