Can you name a Renfrewshire heroine? How are women’s lives reflected in Renfrewshire’s towns and villages? How are they celebrated or remembered? Since January 2020, women have bringing their stories and ideas to this exciting new project and there’s still chance to get involved, try out something new, take part in creative workshops and local history research, and make friends.
“It was really relaxing to be around other women, of all ages…quizzes, films, archive materials, chats… the best thing was the laughter…” – Making Her Mark participant
We’re excited to be working with Johnstone-based Kairos women’s project and Renfrewshire-based RAMH (Recovery Across Mental Health) in a creative project celebrating women in Renfrewshire. We’re working with local women to look at how women are represented and remembered in Renfrewshire. The project will draw on the memories, stories and creative skills of local women and will run until September 2021, when an exhibition and celebration event is planned.
Although this project has been running since January 2020, there is still a chance to help with and take part in preparations for the final exhibition and celebration. The project will also link with women in Furth in Germany, which is twin-towned with Paisley.
To find out more about Kairos, you can visit their Facebook page here.
This project is a partnership between GWL, Kairos and RAMH and is supported by the Renfrewshire Council culture, heritage and events fund.
Theses sessions are free and women only* (16+). To book, contact Kairos Women’s Centre on Tel: 07414 081979, or email Katy: katy@activecommunities.co.uk.
*All women-only events are inclusive of Trans and Intersex women, as well as non-binary and gender fluid people who are comfortable in a space that centres the experience of women.
This session takes place via an online video call link. If you have any concerns about how this will work for you, please do get in touch and we’ll do all we can to support you in joining the session.
