Poet, storyteller and singer Lesley O’Brien will spark your imagination with music and storytelling in this creative writing workshop.
Lesley was Runner-Up in GWL’s Calm Slam in 2020. She grew up in Glasgow’s East End and is widely published in magazines such as Poetry Scotland and her debut collection On the Scent of the Honeyed Hive.
Calling all Poets! This Calm Slam workshop is inspired by our Open the Door theme of Women and Music. Our Open the Door Calm Slam Competition is a space for poets who are ready to step out of the shadows and take their writing to the next level. If you have work you want to share – but aren’t up for a full-on SLAM – then this is the competition for you.
We are holding another Calm Slam Workshop on Friday 13th June online with poet and Giovanna MacKenna.
Glasgow Women’s Library is wheelchair accessible, with lifts to the first floor and the Mezzanine Floor. We have accessible toilets and all the bathrooms are individual closed stalls and are gender neutral. Our larger Events Space is fitted with an induction loop. A portable induction loop is also available.Find more information on Accessibility at GWL or contact us and we will be very happy to offer assistance.
This event is targeted at women, please book below if you’d like to attend. If you would like to make a donation to Glasgow Women’s Library, you can do so here.
