Join our celebration of ways that women can use textiles to speak, protest and build community!
Launch: Thursday 13th October, 6pm to 7:30pm
This exhibition showcases a beautiful new textile piece made by survivors of sexual violence and domestic abuse, alongside examples of women’s textiles from our archives.
At the launch, we will host an intro and Q&A about the Survivor Arts Community project that led to this exhibition, which was facilitated by Wild & Kind Studios, Glasgow Women’s Library and Paria M. Goodarzi.
On Tuesday 6th December there will be a Sensory Materials Workshop inspired by the Gathering Stitch exhibition and taking place among the work. This textiles workshop, facilitated by interdisciplinary artist Zana Araki, will explore sense-led making using scent, tactility and sound elements to express, soothe and promote an open dialogue for mental and physical wellbeing.
The exhibition is free and open to all and there is no need to book.
To attend the launch please book below and we will share an email invitation with you. If you would like to make a donation to Glasgow Women’s Library, you can do so here.
Glasgow Women’s Library is wheelchair accessible, with lifts to the first floor and the Mezzanine Floor. We have accessible toilets and all the bathrooms are individual closed stalls and are gender neutral. Our larger Events Space is fitted with an induction loop.
