Founded by volunteers in 1991, Glasgow Women’s Library continues to be powered by people’s voluntary contributions and We Need You! This Spring the Library is recruiting Board Members, Champions, and Friends, and would like to encourage you to get involved.
This International Women’s Week you can come and hear about the Library in all its glory; meet some of the current board, champions and friends in an open and informal setting; and help us reach and recruit more supporters. Big opportunities are opening up and we’re looking for dynamic women who want to become part of the GWL story. What do you want to contribute to our unique organisation?
The Library was founded by volunteers in 1991 and run by them for the first eight years. Since then GWL has continued to be nourished by the hard work and enthusiasm of hundreds of volunteers supplementing the work of paid staff. As an organisation we achieve way beyond our financial means due to the essential investment people freely make of their time. Volunteering brings benefits to all involved: skills learned and developed, new social contacts made and opportunities to shine and to share. Members of our Board of Directors are also volunteers.
