Fragments and Monuments: Image taken by Dr Anna Birch

Fragments and Monuments: Image taken by Dr Anna BirchFragments and Living Monuments: Spot-light on Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-1797)

An informal research talk presented by Dr Anna Birch, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Dr Susan Manly, University of Saint Andrews.

Anna and Susan explore and celebrate Wollstonecraft’s life in very different ways. Anna produces large scale performance and film events and Susan publishes and teaches about this remarkable woman.

A fragment of text written by Wollstonecraft found posthumously titled ‘Lessons’ focusing on the conversation between a mother and her young daughter and Anna’s experience of producing a living monument to Wollstonecraft provide the basis for this talk.
