Event Series Event Series: Doors Open Days at GWL

Doors Open Days 2023

We are delighted to be throwing open our doors for Doors Open Day 2023.

Visit the beautiful Category B-listed Carnegie Library, home to the world-famous Glasgow Women’s Library since 2013. Get to know the library, archive, museum and our year round programme of events dedicated to women’s lives, histories and achievements. We’ll be open 10am – 4.30 pm on Friday the 15th and 12noon – 4pm on Saturday the 16th of September. No need to book, just pop in! “It was my first time at the Women’s Library and I was made too feel so welcome” – Previous Doors Open Day attendee Visit us and:
  • Embark on a self-led tour of our beautiful building and find out more about its history and current uses.
  • Enjoy one of our Volunteer-led tours of the building throughout the day
  • Touch and see our Archive Handling Kits which will be out to give you a taste of what we have in our archive and museum stores.
  • Pick up a copy of our newly launched Autumn Programme and find out more about what we have in store over the coming months.
  • Learn more about our new Net Zero Handbook and find out more about our ongoing work towards building a sustainable, green future.
  • Pick up a bargain at our Table top book sale
  • Colouring in and activity sheets
  • Pick up one of our East End Heritage Trail Maps and embark on a self-led tour of discovery focusing on some of the achievements and struggles of the resourceful and industrious women of Bridgeton and Calton, and explore the radical nature of the area which gave birth to them. Booking

Part of the Doors Open Days Festival and booking is not required. Simply drop in to see us anytime between 10am & 4.30pm on Friday 15th September and between 12noon & 4pm on Saturday 16th September. Doors Open Days is coordinated nationally by the Scottish Civic Trust. It runs throughout Scotland every September as part of European Heritage Days.
