Would you like to meet other women cyclists, find out about women friendly bike resources and services, (re)discover some of GWL’s books and archive materials featuring bikes, and help us get more women into cycling?
We’ve got plans for women on bikes when we relocate to our new home but we need your ideas and help.
Please cycle along for an afternoon of bike talk, tea and scones! And why not keep a log of how you get there which we can then share with other women who want to cycle to the Library? We want as many women to bike their way to us in the future so good safe routes with women-friendly landmarks would be very welcome.
There are 3 rides led by the fabulous Belles on Bikes to guide you to Landressy Street along safe routes:
Ride 1 (WEST): meeting 12 noon on the corner of University Avenue meets the Kelvin Way (entrance to Kelvingrove Park).
Ride 2 (SOUTH): meeting at 12.15 pm at the main gate entrance to Queens Park on Victoria Road.
Ride 3 (EAST): meeting at 12.30 pm outside Tollcross Leisure Centre in Tollcross Park.
All three rides will meet at St Andrews in the Square at 1.15 pm and will include a wee bit of women’s history courtesy of Glasgow Women’s Library’s excellent women’s heritage guides.
These rides are for women who can ride a bike confidently. All rides are pre-planned but you are responsible for your own safety at all times. Please make sure your bike is in good working order and you have proper clothing for cycling.
This event is free of charge. Please click here to book your free place(s) or contact us on 0141 248 9969 for more information.
