Stories of Women from a First World War Fever Hospital
Typhoid, Smallpox, Bubonic Plague, the Belvidere Fever Hospital on London Road treated them all. In our Heritage Lottery funded project, we are uncovering the hidden histories of women from this First World War hospital.
In a series of workshops we’re supporting women to research the stories of the women who lived, worked and died in the hospital during this period of War and upheaval; comb through the archives; meet people who remember the hospital; and create a dramatic performance piece to mark the lives of the women we discover. Workshops are still taking place and if you think you may be interested in history, creative writing or performance, this is a unique way to gain skills and be part of an exciting new project. Find all the Voices from the Belvidere workshops here.
If you would like to be part of this project but cannot make the remaining workshops, please contact Donna Moore at donna.moore@womenslibrary.org.
