School report cards from the 1930s that show the different subjects available for girls and boys to study. The same form is used for both, saying that the pupil has completed a two year course of advanced instruction approved by the Scottish Education Department, with the standard subjects English, History, Geography, Geometry, Algebra and Arithmetic all pre-printed, and space for additional subjects to be added.
In Agnes Mullan’s report card, Geometry and Algebra are scored out, with Art & Craft, Cookery, Housewifery, Laundry and Dressmaking all written in (as well as ‘with distinction in dressmaking’); in Joseph Conway’s report card, Geometry and Algebra remain in, and Technical Drawing, Mechanics and Bench Work have been written in (no subjects have been added as ‘with distinction’).
