Flora McDonald Denison, 1867-1921
“My name is Flora McDonald Denison and I was a Canadian dressmaker, writer, journalist, innkeeper, social reformer, feminist, and suffragist. I considered women’s need for financial independence to be the basis of genuine equality. In 1905 I started my own dressmaking business, which allowed me to support financially the growing women’s movement and I was president of the Canadian Suffrage Association from 1910 to 1914.”
