Anna Munro

Anna Munro, 1881-1962

“My name is Anna Munro. I grew up in Edinburgh and Dunfermline, before becoming a social worker in London. I was a Suffragette and was organising secretary of the Women’s Freedom League. I was one of six women who walked all the way from Edinburgh to London on the women’s march in 1912. I was arrested for defying the government ban on public speaking in Hyde Park and, when in prison, I was thrilled to receive a message from my husband sewn into a banana.”
