Drumchapel Foodbank Launches Fundraising Campaign for Female Hygiene Items

The Drumchapel Foodbank has launched a fundraising campaign to help provide necessary female hygiene items to women in the local and wider community who access the service. The project is looking to raise £500 to purchase a minimum of 125 large packets of necessary female hygiene products. Around 47% of the people who access The Drumchapel Foodbank are women. This is a necessity for these women who due to financial circumstances are unable to purchase these items. This campaign began due to widespread demand among Foodbank customers for these items.

It is really important for The Drumchapel Foodbank that female hygiene items are made available. Without them many women experience feelings of discomfort which can be avoided when having these items readily available.

From February 2014 until March 2015 The Drumchapel Foodbank has supported 347 individuals. Including their dependents and children this project has benefited 770 people. They have distributed over 1000 emergency seven day food parcels. They also work with individuals to help them identify and access long term support which can mitigate the impact of financial crisis.
