Why not be bold and submit your stories and poems to our annual Dragon’s Pen writing competition.
Theme: Mixing the Colours
This year the theme is Mixing the Colours – Women and Sectarianism in Scotland. We are looking for you to submit your poems and stories (up to 1000 words and only one entry per person in each category please) around the theme of Women and Sectarianism in Scotland.
Shortlisted entries will then read their piece in front of our panel of tame but talented dragons including published writers Chiew Siah Tei and Leela Soma, and Women’s Library staff, Rachel Thain-Gray and Wendy Kirk at our Dragon’s Pen event on Thursday 27th November. Don’t worry – their aim is to support and encourage all writers, rather than roast them over a slow flame.
Winners will be chosen by our Dragon’s and announced on the night. The prize includes a selection of books, a podcast version of your work and winning entries will be published in our Mixing the Colours book in 2015.
For inspiration and guidance please see our Mixing the Colours pages.
Competition opens on Thursday 2nd October so send your poems and stories to info@womenslibrary.org.uk with Dragon’s Pen Competition Entry in the subject line. The closing date for entries is Monday 17th November 2014.
