We would like to thank everyone who ran the Glasgow Women’s 10K for us and also everyone who kindly sponsored members of our team – we raised £6933.60! Your support means such a lot to us.
Now we are looking to “pass on the baton” and would like to invite both women and men to run or walk the Great Scottish Run (either 10K or half marathon) on Sunday 6th October for GWL. Our move to Bridgeton is a fantastic opportunity for us but running such a large building and keeping everyone inside comfortable and warm will be expensive so we really need your help!
Please sponsor us, it’s easy:
- You can sponsor our GWL Great Scottish Run team members here or
- Text GWLG40 followed by £1, £2, £3, £4, £5, or £10 to 70070.
(The text will cost your standard network rate plus the amount you wish to donate and the whole amount pledged will go to the Library).
Join our intrepid team of runners and walkers:
First you need to create a new Fundraising page on Just Giving and here’s what to do –
- If you have an existing account please log-in, go to Your Pages and click on Make a New Page.
- If you don’t have an account click on No I’m new and then enter your email address or sign in through Facebook and follow the registration procedure.
- In both cases select Glasgow Women’s Library as the cause you wish to support and then click on Organized Event.
- Search for and select Glasgow Women’s 10K and then check the information and click on Create your page.
- At that point you can add a photo of your choice, write your story as it relates to GWL if you wish and sum up what you are doing and (in less than 50 characters) why you are supporting GWL.
- Now go to the Passing On the Baton page and click on Join the Team half way down the page.
- You should then see a link to the page you have just created. Make sure it’s selected and then click Join Team.
- Now you are ready to start attracting some sponsors!
- Crucially, don’t forget to register for the Great Scottish Run on Sunday 6th October. There is a charge which covers your t-shirt, medal, finisher’s pack and accurate chip timing. Unfortunately GWL cannot help you with this fee. Please say no when asked if you wish to run for Alzheimer Scotland and do not select any of the partner charities.
Please remember you can walk the course as well as run so don’t be put off taking part if you are not super-fit!
We would love to have as many people as possible taking part and raising funds to help us make our new home in Bridgeton the accessible, inspiring, welcoming space we all deserve.
Many thanks for your support.
