Keep GWL Running!
Glasgow Women’s Library’s staff, volunteers and supporters are running and/or walking the BUPA Great Women’s 10K in Glasgow on 12th May to Keep Glasgow Women’s Library Running. GWL will soon be relocating to permanent premises after several years in temporary accommodation. The beautiful early 20th Century, Grade B Listed Carnegie Library inBridgeton will become our long term home this Spring, allowing us a fabulous opportunity to both consolidate and expand our services.
But we need to raise money to undertake essential refurbishment work and we need your support more than ever. There are two ways to help…
Please sponsor us, it’s easy:
- You can sponsor our GWL 10K team members here or
- Text GWLG40 followed by £1, £2, £3, £4, £5, or £10 to 70070.
(The text will cost your standard network rate plus the amount you wish to donate and the whole amount pledged will go to the Library).
Join our intrepid team of runners and walkers:
First you need to create a new Fundraising page on Just Giving and here’s what to do –
- If you have an existing account please log-in, go to Your Pages and click on Make a New Page.
- If you don’t have an account click on No I’m new and then enter your email address or sign in through Facebook and follow the registration procedure.
- In both cases select Glasgow Women’s Library as the cause you wish to support and then click on Organized Event.
- Search for and select Glasgow Women’s 10K and then check the information and click on Create your page.
- At that point you can add a photo of your choice, write your story as it relates to GWL if you wish and sum up what you are doing and (in less than 50 characters) why you are supporting GWL.
- Now go to the Keep GWL Running page and click on Join the Team half way down the page.
- You should then see a link to the page you have just created. Make sure it’s selected and then click Join Team.
- Now you are ready to start attracting some sponsors!
- Crucially, don’t forget to register for the BUPA Great Women’s 10K Glasgow on Sunday 12th May. There is a charge of £25.00 which covers your t-shirt, medal, finisher’s pack and accurate chip timing. Unfortunately GWL cannot help you with this fee. When you register please choose other as your chosen charity.
Please remember you can walk the course as well as run so don’t be put off taking part if you are not super-fit!
We would love to have as many women as possible taking part and raising funds to help us make our new home in Bridgeton the accessible, inspiring space we all deserve.
Many thanks for your support.
