As part of our Cinema Feminista Programme GWL are screening this fabulous documentary from director Sandhya Suri that chronicles her father’s emigration from India to England in the mid-1960s. Both Yash Pal Suri and his family in India use Super 8 cameras to document their lives, making I for India is a revealing look at a family and its absent son. A bitter-sweet time capsule of alienation, discovery, racism and belonging, I for India is a chronicle of immigration in sixties Britain and beyond, seen through the eyes of one Asian family and their movie camera. There will be time for discussion after the film.
