The course offers the chance to move on to further study in Women’s Studies, Social Sciences or Social Care. It could be a route into employment – or just the chance to try something different and meet some new people.

The units this course will cover are:

Sociology- Socialisation
What type of society do we live in? Do you blame the parents—or the media—for the way young people behave? Are there different ‘rules’ for men and women?

Psychology – The Individual in the Social Context
What makes us who we are? Are men and women always going to be different? Are women naturally more caring than men?

History – Immigrants and Exiles
Focusing on the period between the 1830s and the 1930s, we look at who came to Scotland—and who left. Who were the women that fought the Highland Clearances? And what became of them in the New World?

Don’t worry if it’s been a while since you were last in education, the course is designed for women who have few or no formal qualifications, and there is plenty of help with study skills and communications.

No fees if you’re on benefits or a low income – help may also be available with childcare and travel expenses. Study an interesting and unique course in a friendly, supportive environment.
