Hello,
Even my blogs have an echo now at 109.
412 boxes have been dispached and there is one final uplift scheduled for Friday.
Next Monday the Library will start its new life at 81 Parnie Street. Checked the space today with our new placement Tania and all looked good. Thankfully, the inexplicably huge block of polystyrene has been removed from the close apart from two strange piles of shavings and our space on the second floor is becoming more familiar and welcoming with each visit.
It is slightly scary thinking that in less than a month a large group of learners will be ensconced for Peggy Brunache’s talk on the history of Soul Food. A great motivation to get the kitchen ready.
All the plants have been removed from the stairs to the hothouse conditions of the 4th floor lending a Day of the Triffids feel to the already disconcerting spectacle of the space. Goodness knows what the amenable Tania made of the ‘library’.
I don’t know whether to be pleased or alarmed that the ivy, forty foot high and suckered to the wall in the close has now mysteriously died. The building does seem to be weeping and recoiling at the thought of our leaving. (Well that’s my typically gothic interpretation).
I will try to blog before the finale,
A damp au revoir
