Glasgow Women’s Library’s ‘Women on the Shelf’ fundraising initiative enabled individuals and organisations to sponsor a Library section, shelf or book and dedicate it to a woman of their choice.
Women on the Shelf from Glasgow Women’s Library on Vimeo.
In this film, three sponsors talk about the women they’ve chosen to celebrate, and why they support Glasgow Women’s Library.
As well as building a living tribute to remarkable women, all the money raised through ‘Women on the Shelf’ has gone directly towards the refurbishment costs needed to complete the transformation of GWL’s permanent new home in Bridgeton.
All our shelves are now sponsored, and we’re in the process of creating markers to commemorate all the women being celebrated.
Women on the Wall
Support Glasgow Women’s Library as we celebrate our 30th year in 2021.
To mark our 30th birthday, we are pleased to launch a new fundraising initiative, Women on the Wall, to help us in our ongoing work towards building a sustainable, green future.
Following the success of our Women on the Shelf scheme, we want to create a new space that links to our museum and archive collections to honour women who deserve recognition. The money raised will contribute towards GWL’s overall aims to become net carbon neutral whilst honouring women who have made their own positive impact on the world.
