Speaking Volumes reading room project will create space to reflect on the influential role of women in art through the object of the book. It is part of Glasgow International Festival of Visual Arts (GI) a biennial festival of contemporary art showcasing the best of local and international art and the project is a collaboration between My Bookcase and GWL.

A springtime special with readings of poems and writings about the enchanting world of the honey bee and some delicious honey based snacks. Expect tales of queen bees, bee stings, bee hives, bee dancing, honeycomb and other bee stories.
In partnership with National Galleries Scotland, we have arranged a unique opportunity for women to join in supported group visits to this major new exhibition which features Scottish Women painters and sculptors from 1885-1965.
Speaking Volumes books will be activated through a series of important conversations between international and Glasgow-based creatives. Conversations will revolve around the often eclipsed but influential and multifaceted role of women on art and creativity.
