Women made many valuable contributions to education in the 18th century including working as teachers, governesses and instructing their younger siblings, yet their contributions are frequently overlooked. This ensemble of talks and music highlights key components of women’s education in the arts during this period.
Everyone interested in learning more about this broad but important subject is invited to hear from speakers including Penelope Cave, Katrina Faulds, Kirsteen McCue and Mark Towsey. The day includes lunch and a concert featuring music played on harpsichord, fortepiano, voice and baroque flute composed by and for eighteenth-century women.
