We Tell Ourselves Stories in Order to Live

Thursday, 23rd March, 2017, 5:30pm to 7:00pm

Free

1970s feminist children’s books sought to present stories that would broaden the possibilities for children and reflect a world for kids who wanted to grow up equal. Part of the exhibition Forms of Action by the CCA, artist and writer Kim Dhillon presents a series of evenings to discuss some of these books.

We Tell Ourselves Stories in Order to Live takes place on Thursdays 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th March, 5.30pm to 7pm

We’ll reflect on lead female characters; representations of fathers, grandparent carers and single, working mothers; and ask what was radical about children’s literature from the 1970s and how it can be today? Find all the sessions here and come to as many as you can.
