Typhoid, Smallpox, Bubonic Plague, the Belvidere Fever Hospital on London Road treated them all. Uncover hidden histories of women from a First World War hospital in this series of workshops.
On Thursday 2nd March, this workshop will take place at the Mitchell Library Archives from 2pm. See below for further information.
In these workshops, we’ll support you to: research the stories of the women who lived, worked and died in the hospital during this period of War and upheaval, comb through the archives, meet people who remember the hospital and create a dramatic performance piece to mark the lives of the women we discover. If you think you may be interested in history, creative writing or performance, this is a unique way to gain skills and be part of an exciting new project.
If you would like to be part of this project but cannot make the dates shown, please contact Donna Moore at donna.moore@womenslibrary.org.uk as there will be additional dates once the group has decided how they want to take the project forward. Find all the Voices from the Belvidere workshops here.
The workshop on Thursday 2nd March will take place at the Mitchell Library, to look at the records of the Belvidere Hospital. The Archives are on Level 5 of the Mitchell and they have lockers to leave your belongings in. Pencils are allowed but no pens. You can also take photos, we’ll just let them know so that they have forms ready. There’s no food and drink allowed in the archives.
Travel expenses can be covered up to £5 per person and if you would like to meet at GWL, arrive by 12.50pm as Donna will be leaving for the Mitchell Library at 1pm.
