Seeing Things is a group that meet up to see art, performances and cultural events put on by women across Glasgow and beyond. We think it’s more fun to go to see things together, and we usually have a cup of tea or coffee afterwards. Our trips are always free. It would be great if you could come along!
What: Visiting St Mungo’s Museum to have a tour of the Anne Frank+You exhibition and the collection and do some creative writing
When: Friday 21st June, 11am to 1pm
Where: St Mungo’s Museum of Religious Art and Life
Who With: Doreen
Why you should join us:
We’re excited to be getting a guided tour of the displays and an exhibition about Anne Frank’s life and times, which will followed by some relaxed creative writing exercises inspired by diaries, artworks and objects from the Museum’s collection.
The Anne Frank + You temporary exhibition explores the life and times of the young German-born Jewish diarist, including a life-size replica of Anne’s Secret Annexe bedroom. It also focuses on contemporary prejudice and discrimination.
St Mungo’s Museum of Religious Art and Life aims to promote understanding and respect between people of different faiths and those of none. It is named after Glasgow’s patron saint who brought the Christian faith to Scotland in the 6th century. It is built on the site of the medieval Bishops’ Castle and is designed in its style. The galleries are full of displays, objects and stunning works of art that explore the importance of religion in peoples’ lives across the world and across time.
This visit is organised by volunteers as part of the Seeing Things project. Seeing Things trips offer a way to see things with other curious and like-minded women: performances, film screenings, exhibitions, talks and anything else showcasing women creatives’ work, either at GWL or out and about. We refund travel costs and provide a cup of tea or coffee to chat about what we’ve seen.
