*Due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to cancel the Secret Garden Writing Workshop on 30th March. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Please note that the sessions on Saturday 13th April and Saturday 27th April will proceed as planned.*
Spring is upon us! Come connect to your writing and celebrate the changing seasons with our series of three gentle creative writing sessions. Wrap up warm and bring along a thermos of tea for these workshops in the atmospheric (but chilly) Secret Garden, hidden in the heart of Edinburgh.
Please note: this is the same workshop which will run three times. You are welcome to attend more than once, but please be aware that workshop content will be the same.
Facilitated by feminist poet Nadine Aisha Jassat, these workshops are designed for participants to come together in the Secret Garden’s Palm House, and explore and connect to their writing through a series of prompts, discussion, and writing activities, inspired by and responding to the nature and space around them.
Come retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city outside and explore where your writing will take you in The Secret Garden!
“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.” Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden
“A lovely retreat, well organised, inspirational and open.’’ Participant at the Secret Garden Autumn Workshops
Run by Glasgow Women’s Library with the support of Edinburgh Art Festival.
The garden is located just off the Patrick Geddes Steps/ Castle Wynd South. If you’d like to discuss or get advice or guidance on how to access Johnstone Terrace Garden you can contact Edinburgh Art Festival on 0131 226 6558, or email Nadine.Jassat@womenslibrary.org.uk.
You can also contact the Glasgow Women’s Library on 0141 550 2267.
Please note: This venue is not wheelchair accessible. The garden has no electricity, and so tea and coffee will not be provided though participants are welcome to bring their own flasks. There are throws at the Palm House and it can get quite warm, however in our unpredictable Scottish weather an extra jumper never goes amiss! Although there are not toilets in the garden, there are public toilets nearby.
