As the clock strikes 11am on St. Andrew’s Day, Friday 30th November, thousands of people across Scotland, including the GWL staff, will stop what they’re doing and pick up a book for The Reading Hour.
Help us fill every chair at Glasgow Women’s Library with a reader. We can recommend a book, offer a space, a cuppa and a slice of cake so you can read in comfort. We can also take your reader portrait to enter into the Scottish Book Trust competition to win a Kindle Fire.
Alternatively, you can take part wherever you are, be it a train, bus or ferry; workplace, school or favourite armchair, all you need is a good book – we have plenty you can borrow! Please send us photos of you reading a book from our collection so we can see everyone who is taking part. You can tweet these to us @gwlkettle, post on facebook.com/womenslibrary or email them to us at info@womenslibrary.org.uk and remember to tag all twitter posts with #BWS2012 to be in with a chance of winning the Kindle Fire.
Thanks to support from Scottish Book Trust we will also be running a range of events in the Library’s new neighbourhood in Bridgeton for Book Week Scotland 2012. Come along to our Guerilla Writing workshop or our Two Decades of Changing Minds event at Bridgeton Community Learning Campus on Tuesday 27th November or our Dragon’s Pen event at Bridgeton Library in Landressy Street on Thursday 29th November.
