An evening to preview and launch the full exhibition, Tall Tales, in its only Scottish location.
Tall Tales is a national touring programme that brings together the work of 17 international women artists who employ the playful use of storytelling techniques in the making of their work.
To mark the launch of Tall Tales at Glasgow Women’s Library, we invite you to a preview of the show and to two one off, very special performances by Tall Tales commission artist Beth Collar, and celebrated novelist Jenn Ashworth.
During the event celebrated novelist Jenn Ashworth will give a performance recital responding to the work of artist Alison Erika Forde. Award winning artist Beth Collar delved into the GWL archives during her Tall Tales residency and her research manifested as sculptures of women’s faces carved in Lime Wood finished with cosmetics. The artist will perform at the launch and give voice to some of the more unusual stories she came across.
Find out all about Tall Tales, and other associated events taking place this Autumn here, which include an Open Day on Saturday 22nd October, 12pm to 4pm. The exhibition continues until Wednesday 21st December and is open during GWL opening hours.
This event is open to all and is free to attend. Please book below (you will be taken through the shopping cart but no charge will be made) or you can call us on 0141 550 2267.
